This position provides expertise in the area of assembly to the plant production processes. Provides training, troubleshooting and process improvements as needed.
Obey the plant's safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns.
Evaluate and make recommendations regarding current and new assembly processing, tooling and equipment.
Provide maintenance, production and quality assurance personnel as assigned with assembly expertise to support existing and new customer programs.
Leads problem solving activities and provides instruction, guidance and leadership to employees by assisting in problem solving and involving all departments.
Participate in APQP processes relating to the design of assembly work cells and tooling.
Recommend design changes to improve quality, reliability, and productivity of assembly processes.
Work effectively with Quality, Engineering and Production department employees for continual improvement of department methods, procedures and policies; assist in the implementation of aforementioned.
Support maintenance and weld technicians when possible.
Communicate effectively with company personnel, customers and vendors
Attend and participate in department meetings, plant meetings and training.
Participate in customer visits as designated by the department manager
Look for cycle time and quality improvements as well as methods to prevent defects.
Benchmark other Cosma facilities in order to keep Victor Mfg up to date with the best methods of assembly.
Support new program launches and customer expectations.
Provide reports as required by the Maintenance Manager or other departments
Follows and supports Victor Manufacturing's and Magna's operating principles, charter, open door policy and 5S.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in an automotive welding and assembly production environment.
Prior experience in production stamping and robot assembly processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of automotive welding and fabrication processes
Advanced Product Quality Planning methods
Strong computer skills are required
Knowledge in OSHA safety requirements
Ability to travel as necessary and work flexible hours to meet demands of production
Strong understanding of weld fixtures and set-up of old and new parts
Strong understanding of weld quality, weld controls, spot, mig and tig, weld tips, shanks and shunt cables.
Familiar with robot specs and robot capability
Strong understanding of pneumatics and weld gun cylinders, solenoid valves and hydraulics
Ability to set-up and program weld schedules and robots
Understand the Cosma/Victor assembly equipment standards
Physical Demands - must meet the essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor.
Environmental Conditions - Combination of factory and office environments.
This position is on 1st shift with hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
