Summit Truck Bodies, a division of Transwest, is looking to fill a paint prep position at our manufacturing facility in Wathena Kansas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares work to be accomplished by studying work order, bill of materials and blueprints
Responsible for priming, sanding, masking and prepping bodies and parts before paintwork is started / completed.
Responsible for inspecting work on an assortment of parts, as well as bodies prior to paint being applied.
Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
Maintains a clean and safe work area, maintains and wears all required personal protective safety equipment.
Participates in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control
Other duties as assigned by the manager WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching
Requires lifting up to 75 pounds frequently
Requires exposure to various chemicals and solvents.
Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned
Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery such as a forklift
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity
Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
Requires working in a fast paced environment
Requires a normal range of hearing and vision
Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations
Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people
Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Drivers License with an MVR in good standing
Must have basic knowledge and understanding of automotive paint process, prep work to be completed, as well as basic knowledge of a phosphate wash system.
Ability to efficiently use various hand and power tools
Keen attention to detail is required
Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions
Basic communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane
Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
